How to get there.
If you are travelling from more Southern Peru or Bolivia there are two options when trying to figure out how to get to Laguna 69: The first option is public buses which operate out of public bus terminals. The second option is private hop-on hop-off bus companies that tend to be a lot safer and allow travelers an entirely flexible itinerary.
One of the most highly recommended hop-on hop-off companies is Peru Hop. This option can bring you from southern areas such as Cusco or La Paz as far as Lima, but unfortunately they do not operate any further north as of yet. Peru Hop runs from Cusco to Lima and from Lima to Cusco, stopping in destinations such as Arequipa, Nazca, Huacachina and Paracas. Their sister company Bolivia Hop is available from La Paz to Cusco and from Cusco to La Paz.
There is also a small airport in Huaraz with daily flights running from Lima for those who want to get to travel more urgently. The most popular way to get from Lima to Huaraz is by bus. The overnight buses are recommended as a lot of time can be wasted on buses and it also saves you a night on accommodation.
